KATSU CURRY

DSC03500_edited.jpg

Katsu curry is an expression of Japanese Western-inspired cooking (yoshoku), adding a unique Japanese touch to every dish.

In the late 1800s, Western cuisine introduced the concept of meat frying to Japan, inspiring panko-crusted Katsu, one of the most famous Japanese dishes today. Around the same time, curry traveled from India to Japan by the British Empire.

Unlike most common curries found in Europe, Japanese curry’s uniqueness comes from its flour-base. The soft consistency brings out its rich flavor, rather than a heavy, creamy texture.
